Shanghai Madame Tussauds Wax Museum
Madame Tussauds started in London over 100 years ago. For a long time, it was a major tourist attraction in the city. Now Madame Tussauds has expanded to other countries. There are two Madame Tussauds in China. One in Hong Kong and the other, here in Shanghai. Madame Tussauds museums contain life sized wax works of rich and famous people from around the world. However, each local Madame Tussauds has a bias towards local personalities. For example, the Shanghai Madame Tussauds has many Chinese born film and music stars as well as some political figures. As a result, the Shanghai version of Madame Tussauds might not be so interesting to foreigners who won't know many of the figures on display. There are still some international figures that everyone can recognize, so the museum may interest some.
