Huangshan 黄山

Huangshan Scenic Area (黄山市黄山风景区; huángshān fēngjǐngqū): Visitors from the north should head for Taiping where as Southern visitors should go to Tangkou. One of the most famous mountains in China. Situated a few hours train ride from Shanghai city, these mountains are popular today, as they were also in ancient times. The views and scenes of the Yellow mountains echo throughout Chinese culture in paintings as well as poetry, writing and music. The Yellow mountains are the inspiration behind the Chinese Classical Garden that has gone on to also influence Japanese gardens. The Yellow mountains scenery consists of spectacularly and peculiarly shaped graniet peaks topped by knurled and stunted pine trees, sunsets and views of mountains above clouds. Legend says that the mythical Yellow Emperor ascended to heaven form Huangshan after discovering the secret of immortality. This tourist attraction is listed as a UNESCO World Herritage Site. This tourist attraction is rates as AAAAA on China's national tourism scale. Open all hours though cable cars only run from 08:40 to 16:00 Entry to the park is 230 RMB peak season and 150 RMB off peak. Cable cars cost 80 RMB peak, 65 RMB off peak. Half price tickets are available for children.
